Compèring Script for the International Women’s Day – March 8

International Woman Day (also IWD) is an international day celebrated on 8th March. It celebrated the movements of women’s rights. However, the first Women’s Day was celebrated in New York on 28th February 1909. Later, the 1910 International Woman’s Conference suggested 8th March as an ”International Women’s Day”.  However, International Women’s Day was, initially, celebrated as a holiday in Soviet Russia when, in 1917, women gained suffrage. Then, in 1975, the United Nations also adopted the 8th march as the International Women’s Day.

In addition, each year has its theme: Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030 (2017), Investing in Women and Girls (2008). All around the globe, this day is celebrated with love and passion by giving women flowers and gifts. Also, events are held in the honor of women. Indeed, no struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men.

In 1909, we realized saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing our economic growth, connecting the dots between climate change, water scarcity, global health, and, hence, nothing is possible without women working side by sidemen. Therefore, the International Women’s Day was first celebrated on 28th February 1909, in New York. However, later, the 1910 International Woman’s Conference suggested 8th March as an ”International Women’s Day”. So, each year people from various countries celebrate 8th March as International Women’s Day with love and honor for womanhood.

So, Ladies and gentlemen, very good and warm morning to everyone assembled here. I am (name of the anchor) privileged to host the International Women’s Day event held by (name of the institute).
