When you want to be an English instructor, undoubtedly you will be called from the academy for an interview. How do you feel? Maybe you feel uncomfortable initially, and will have a kind of anxiety when entering the interview room in front of a panel of educators who are judging you. But you don’t need to worry about it, if you are well-prepared and qualified candidate and make ready yourself before the interview then you will reduce your nervousness and the more confident you will be. Indeed preparing for an interview is probably the key of securing a new job position. Listed here are common English teacher interview questions and answers, which will give you some ideas on what to response beforehand. 1. Tell us about yourself.
This is the question which will be asked first. Great and Introduce yourself briefly to the panel of educators, the interviewers want to know who you are. Tell them about your name and qualification. Make a good first impression, we will never make a second chance of making a first impression, first impression makes your image in their mind, so always you have to give your introduction in impressive way. Remember to limit the response for 2 minutes.

2. Why should we hire you?
In respond to this question, you can share your knowledge, work experience if you have and skills related to the job. And finally, tell them about your career goal. For instance, you can respond as follows:
(As I am a fresher, I have theoretical knowledge, but I can do the hard work for your organization. And I will put all my efforts for the good progress of the organization being punctual and sincere. I can finish the work given to me on time, and try to fulfill all the needs of academy.
With reference to my work experience, I satisfy the entire requirement for this job. I am sincere with my work and would never let you down in any way. I promise you will never regret for the decision to appoint me in your organization.)

3. What can you tell me about your classroom management plan?
Initially, make sure to clearly express that the classroom management is not about punishment, it is about keeping your students actively involved in all of your lessons, and that you are a proactive teacher. Show your enthusiasm, passion, excellent organizational skills, and how you will keep the students on their toes and create a warm and captivating environment, so that the students will look forward to coming in academy each day.

4. What will you do if a lesson doesn’t work well?
Sometimes things go out of the plan and the lesson plan doesn’t work well, so what would you do to come with a term to this problem. In respond to this question, provide a specific instance in which a lesson doesn’t run. You can respond as follows:
(I will concentrate on analyzing what doesn’t work welld. And what the weaknesses of the lesson are, then I will enhance the quality of the lessons, such as making the content less complicated, utilizing useful resources, learning the experience from other teachers and reconsidering on my classroom management. I need to know that failures have occurred and I have the ability and lucidity to resolve them.)

5. Why classroom management issues occur?
Why classroom management issues occur and how you plan to solve these classroom management issues? Your answers to this question must be specific as possible with actual examples. You have to show the interviewers how it looks like if they were visiting your class. Just to give you an idea you can say something like this:
(Classroom management issues arise from two main reasons: 1. Boredom, 2. Confusion. Both of these two issues start from the second students enter the classroom. By keeping the students actively involved in the lesson, the students will not get bored, and students get confused when the lesson is complicated or virtual, by making the lessons less complicated and practical I would come with a term to these issues.)

6. Tell me about the teacher who has inspired you and what have you learned from that teacher.
This kind of teacher interview question is created to discover your values and motivation. You need to prepare some examples in which show their behavior and teaching styles that inspired you. How have you tried to transmit the lesson you learned from him or her to your students? Emphasize qualities that would be valuable in the teaching position you are applying for in your answer.

7. How you handle the problematic students?
Sometimes students commit a problem for the teacher and other students in the class, how you handle those kinds of students. Try to respond in way to convince the interviewers that you have the lucidity to control those kinds of students. Possible answer can be as follows:
(Being an instructor we have to gain two things from the students: 1. Love, 2. Respect. Think about this when the students love and respect the teacher, and then they will never create any problem. Moreover, a lazy teacher will have problematic students. A teacher who involves the students in the lesson and crate a warm and interesting environment will never face any problematic student. )

8. What are your strengths?
Share some of your strengths and consistency. As an illustration a teacher must have the following strengths:

  • Adaptability
  • Hard working
  • Honest
  • Flexibility
  • Optimistic
  • Faster decision making
  • Persistence
  • Self-motivated
    (I am an honest, self-motivated and hardworking teacher with positive attitude towards my career and my life.)

9. What are your weaknesses?
You can tell the interviewers about some of your weaknesses. Your weaknesses should not put any negative impact on your career. To give you an idea you can tell them the following points:

  • Straightforward
  • Impatient
  • Sensitive
  • More talkative
  • Trust people very quickly.
  • I can’t say no when someone asks for help.
  • To take decisions very quickly. 
  • To speak lie is difficult for me.
  • I am a bit lazy about which I am not interested.

10. Why did you leave your previous job and looking for a change?
First, thanks to previous organization and explain what you learned from past job experience, and then share your reason for job change. As an illustration you can answer as follows:
(I am thankful to my previous organization because I have learned a lot of things from them. According to me changes are necessary for everyone to enhance his skills, knowledge, personal growth and financial growth. And your organization is the better platform where I can learn more and can utilize my skills and improve my career path. )

11. What qualities do you look for in a principal?
This kind of question is made in order to ask your opinion about a successful principal and which qualities that a teacher and a principal must have. In respond to this question you can answer as follows:
(Having a vision and a clear goal, planning and motivating, communicating and visibility, consistency and accountability, caring, nurturing and developing staff and students are the qualities that a principal must have.)

12. Do you have any question to ask us?
Initially express thanks, and then you can ask about your salary structure, job timing, job location, overtime allowance, and transport facility as follows:
(Thank you for giving this opportunity. Sir I would like to know about the job timings and transport facility and what will be the job location and salary scale for this job in your organization.)
