How to Take IELTS Speaking Test?

1. Initially you have to feel relaxed, if you are nervous or have anxiety you will lose your confident and you won’t speak well.

2. Remember the examiner is not being assessed on you opinions, they are only interested in relevance to the question, and in how well you express your ideas in English, so you don’t have to tell the truth. They don’t care if you have 2 best friends or more, or your favorite game is soccer or cricket.

3. Meanwhile, speaking focus on:
Fluency and coherence
• Lexical resource
• Grammatical range
• Accuracy and pronunciation

4. Try to speak as much as you can until they stop you. Don’t just answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Try to develop your response to each question − draw on your own experience and give examples. The examiner wants to hear whether you can talk at length on a range of topics.

5. You have to speak fluently and spontaneously. Don’t learn answers before the exam, but rather you can prepare yourself before the test by learning common idioms and phrases in English. Moreover, using Idioms and some advanced vocabularies will sneak you into higher band score.

6. Listen carefully to the questions of the examiner, notice which verb tense is used, your answer should be in the same tense of the asked question. If the question is ‘What kind of foods do you like?’ the answer should be in the same tense.

7. If you make a mistake, correct it immediately. If you make too many mistakes, it will lower your score for grammar, but if you correct immediately, it may help you score a higher band.

8. When you don’t understand the question you can ask for clarification or explanation. Once or twice is fine, but not too many times.

9. Make an eye contact with the examiner, if you cannot make eye contact, look over the forehead of the examiner or over the nose.

10. Sometimes when speaking, we move a lot that’s a factor of nervousness, but we must have a little movement while speaking because the examiner is just watching you.
